STEPS TO OBTAINING YOUR ADAPTED VEHICLE LICENCE
Note: This process applies to persons that had a driver’s licence
1. For training, they should have a valid/un-expired drivers license
2. If expired, they should first renew it – puts instructor at risk of training the client without a valid license
3. For re-test, need to report disability to DLTC and request permission for re-test. (Medical declaration)
4. Needs letter from doctor or therapist stating what disability they have, what adaptions they require and whether they are fit to drive
5. Some DLTC’s request affidavit from client stating how they became disabled
6. DLTC sends request to MEC’s office. Supposed to take only 2 weeks to get a reply. DLTC supposed to contact the client once the re-test is approved
